Egypt's Minister of Public Business Sector Mohammed Sheemy reviewed the progress of the revival project for Delta Company for Fertilisers and Chemical Industries, which has been out of operation for over five years, the Cabinet said in a statement on Tuesday. The minister was briefed on the ammonia and urea plants' overhaul, including urgent maintenance and safety system installation. The facility will resume operations with a daily production capacity of 1,200 tons of ammonia and 1,725 tons of urea. Sheemy underscored the state's strong commitment to the fertiliser sector, describing it as a critical pillar for achieving food security and supporting agricultural expansion, according to the statement. He said that the development projects aim to restore the historic leadership of national companies, boost their competitiveness locally and globally, and help meet local fertiliser demand while increasing exports and value-added industrial output. He added that these efforts align with the Ministry's strategy to maximise asset returns, strengthen production capabilities, and enhance the competitiveness of affiliated companies. The focus remains on modernising factories, adopting advanced production technologies, and ensuring optimal use of resources, with full compliance to safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
