Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir has laid the foundation stone for a new refrigerator and deep freezer factory in Menoufia, a joint venture between El-Araby Group and Japan's Sharp, an official statement said. The facility, spanning 107,000 square metres, involves investments of up to $108 million and is expected to produce 900,000 units annually, according to the Cabinet statement. The new factory, in partnership with the Japanese firm, complements the $25 million engineering glass plant in Quesna. These projects will create over 4,000 direct job opportunities and will boost Egypt's position as a regional industrial hub. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
