Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty on Thursday reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the unity of Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank, stressing the Palestinian people's legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Abdel-Aty made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo with Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, where they discussed the latest developments in Gaza ceasefire talks and the critical need to ensure humanitarian aid reaches the territory. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in halting the worsening humanitarian crisis and ending the ongoing Israeli military operations. The minister also highlighted Egypt's preparations to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza once a ceasefire is reached, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government. He underscored Egypt's ongoing humanitarian and relief support for the people of Gaza. Rajoub shared his assessment of the situation in both Gaza and the West Bank, and the prospects for implementing the two-state solution. He praised Egypt's active efforts to support the Palestinian cause, particularly its mediation to reach a ceasefire and its facilitation of aid access.
