Egypt's FM reaffirms support for Palestinian Authority, rejects Israeli actions
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 06 - 04 - 2025

Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty reiterated on Saturday Egypt's firm support for the Palestinian Authority and rejected Israeli attempts to undermine the unity of Palestinian territories by separating Gaza from the West Bank.
During a meeting in Cairo with a delegation from the Palestinian Fatah movement led by Jibril Rajoub, Abdel-Aty reviewed the latest developments in Gaza and the West Bank amid the ongoing Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt's ongoing efforts to restore a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the swift resumption of humanitarian aid delivery.
He strongly condemned Israel's continued aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as its broader regional policy of excessive military force, which disregards the principles of international humanitarian law.
The minister further denounced Israel's persistent extremist practices against civilians and its behaviour as a state acting above the law. He warned that illusions of power would not bring Israel the security it seeks, but rather fuel hatred and a desire for revenge, further obstructing prospects for peaceful coexistence in the region. Such actions, he said, pose grave threats to regional stability and the possibility of achieving lasting peace, while also criticising the shameful silence of the international community.
Abdel-Aty also reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians and referenced the joint Arab-Islamic plan to reconstruct the Gaza Strip. He emphasised the importance of Palestinian unity and the role of the Palestinian Authority in fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people and achieving a just and lasting solution through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
