Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has held talks with Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, on the sidelines of the Ninth International Seminar organised by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) in Vienna. The meeting explored opportunities for joint cooperation in the oil and gas sectors. Both sides reviewed the infrastructure and capabilities available to enhance collaboration and exchange expertise to serve mutual interests and bolster economic ties between the two countries. The discussions included potential cooperation in the trade and circulation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and petroleum products, as well as investment prospects in Egypt's petroleum sector, particularly in oil and gas exploration, production, and the development of mature fields. The two ministers also examined possible cooperation between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Azerbaijan's national oil company SOCAR. Badawi outlined the current strategic priorities of Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and highlighted key areas where bilateral cooperation could align with these goals. Both parties expressed their willingness to build on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June 2024 between Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy and Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources during the Azerbaijani President's visit to Cairo. The MoU covers collaboration in the fields of oil, gas, and petrochemicals. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
