Egypt's annual headline inflation fell to 14.4 per cent in June 2025, down from 16.5 per cent in May, while the monthly inflation rate recorded a slight decline of 0.1 per cent, the CAPMAS reported on Wednesday. The monthly dip was mainly driven by a 3.8 per cent drop in meat and poultry prices and a 1.0 per cent decrease in vegetable prices, despite increases across several categories, including fish and seafood, grains and bread, and dairy products. The report also showed that prices of housing and utilities rose by 1.2 per cent, mainly due to a 2.2 per cent increase in electricity, gas, and other fuels, while garments, footwear, health services, and hotel services also saw modest increases. On an annual basis, food and beverages were 6.8 per cent higher compared to June 2024, with notable spikes in fruit (68.7 per cent), vegetables (8.5 per cent), and seafood (11.5 per cent). However, meat and poultry prices fell by 2.1 per cent year-on-year. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
