Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Wednesday visited Al Safy Group's factory in 6th of October City, as part of efforts to localise electronics and telecom manufacturing, including Xiaomi smartphones and routers, the Cabinet said in a statement. The facility houses 25 production lines and has an annual capacity of 10 million Xiaomi smartphones, 500,000 televisions, two million routers, two million surveillance cameras, and 5,000 medical devices, according to the statement. The prime minister toured assembly and testing operations for smartphones, smart TVs and routers, and was briefed on the increasing use of locally produced components. Company executives said the plant is steadily reducing reliance on imported parts. Al Safy Group Chairman Safi Wahba said the factory is helping strengthen Egypt's industrial base and lower import dependency. Presentations during the visit were also delivered by Chief Operating Officer Diaa El Shaarawy and General Manager Islam Adel. Prime Minister Madbouly praised the factory's advanced technology and reiterated government support for localisation, pledging incentives to encourage further expansion of domestic manufacturing.
