Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Saturday visited Utopia Pharmaceutical Industries in the 10th of Ramadan City, as per a Cabinet statement. Utopia's Chairman Saied Kamel explained that the facility spans 18,000 sqm, with EGP 1.35 billion in investment and six production lines. The company produces 185 products—73 registered and marketed—while exports reached EGP 320 million in 2024. The factory currently manufactures 120 million units annually, with potential for expansion. Kamel added that 19 medicines, once fully imported, are now produced locally at half the cost, saving EGP 840 million annually. The company uses up to 90 per cent local components. Utopia also plays a regional role, partnering with Sudanese pharmaceutical companies to supply essential medicines during the Sudan crisis. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
