Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir on Wednesday visited the Utopia Pharmaceuticals plant at the Industria West industrial complex in the 10th of Ramadan city, the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Wednesday. The project supports the government's goal to boost the local pharmaceutical industry, reduce import costs, and expand the market for Egyptian medicines globally. Utopia's officials briefed Minister El-Wazir on modern technologies, including a drug-tracking system and barcode application to ensure the quality and safety of medicines, especially for chronic illnesses. The factory spans 18,000 square metres with a total investment of 1.1 billion Egyptian pounds. It exports 15 per cent of its production, the statement added. With 1,050 employees, the plant boasts a remarkable 90 per cent local component in its production. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
