The euro area's annual inflation rate reached 1.9 per cent in May 2025, down from 2.2 per cent in April, according to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday. The broader European Union (EU) also saw inflation slow to 2.2 per cent from 2.4 per cent in the previous month. The sharpest price increases were recorded in Romania (5.4 per cent), Estonia (4.6 per cent), and Hungary (4.5 per cent).
