US consumer prices (CPI-U) rose 0.1 per cent in May on a seasonally adjusted basis, after rising 0.2 percent in April, according to the US Bureau of Labour Statistics. The annual inflation rate reached 2.4 per cent, up slightly from 2.3 per cent in April. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.1 per cent in May and 2.8 per cent over the past year.
