Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of any expansion of the conflict in the Middle East, stressing the urgent need to de-escalate tensions to avoid a full-scale regional war with grave consequences for the security and resources of all countries and peoples in the region. During his meeting in Cairo with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, President Sisi underlined the importance of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. He also called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of humanitarian aid. Sisi stressed the imperative of restoring safe navigation in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea. For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi praised Egypt's efforts to restore regional stability. He affirmed Iran's keenness to maintain consultations with Egypt in the coming period.
