Abdel-Aty expressed Egypt's hope for Germany's continued support within the European Union, especially regarding the swift approval and disbursement of the second tranche of the EU's financial package to Egypt. The two ministers exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He stressed the need to halt hostilities and create a political horizon for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region. The meeting also addressed peace and security challenges in Africa. Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt's efforts to support security, stability, and development across the continent, reaffirming Egypt's full support for Somalia's unity and sovereignty and the importance of strengthening efforts to stabilise the country.
