The Egyptian Health Council and the Supreme Council for Clinical Medical Research Ethics signed a cooperation protocol to enhance integration among health and research institutions, and improve patient safety and healthcare quality in Egypt. The protocol aligns with the state's continued efforts to develop the health and research sectors, as per a Cabinet statement on Wednesday. It added that the strategic importance of strengthening integration between health and research bodies to improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure patient safety. This initiative aims to regulate and monitor medical research according to international scientific and ethical standards to improve research credibility and enhance healthcare services for citizens. Abdel Ghaffar added that the protocol aims to unify institutional efforts in regulating and reviewing clinical medical research, while also supporting the research environment with appropriate regulatory, ethical, and guidance tools. Additionally, the protocol aims to enhance the efficiency of medical education and training by incorporating research ethics into accredited training programmes, according to the statement. The collaboration aims to establish a unified framework that ensures adherence to ethical standards and improves the quality of research and training outputs in the health sector, ultimately benefiting the health of Egyptian citizens.
