The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt and the Pharmaceutical company Bayer signed a cooperation agreement to enhance reproductive health awareness and support informed family planning choices, per a Cabinet statement. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that this successful partnership aims to support the Ministry's efforts to improve family planning and reproductive health services in Egypt. He highlighted that the expansion builds on the success of the initial five-year collaboration, which greatly enhanced women's empowerment and family health in underserved areas. The agreement also extends the partnership for an additional three years until 2028. Abdel Ghaffar emphasised that this partnership supports the Your Right to Plan campaign, a collaborative effort between the family planning sector in the ministry and the UNFPA, the statement added. The campaign aims to provide family planning and reproductive health services, raise public awareness, and increase demand for these services through both fixed and mobile clinics. He further added that the UNFPA and Bayer aim to reach over 810,000 women with family planning services and information through awareness campaigns. They also aim to ensure that 540,000 women have access to modern contraceptives by 2028. The initiative aims to enhance national and local healthcare systems to provide quality reproductive health and family planning services, empowering women to make informed choices and access necessary counselling.
