Trade between Egypt and Kuwait reached $1.2 billion in 2024, down from $2.6 billion a year earlier, according to official data released by CAPMAS as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi began an official visit to Kuwait on Monday. Egypt's exports to Kuwait recorded $273 million in 2024, down from $316 million in 2023, while imports from Kuwait dropped to $947 million from $2.3 billion over the same period. Top Egyptian exports to Kuwait included vegetables and fruits ($70 million), ready-made garments ($27 million), prepared vegetables and fruits ($17 million), cocoa products ($16 million), and electrical machinery ($14 million). Meanwhile, Egypt's main imports from Kuwait were mineral fuels and oils ($927 million), followed by plastics ($12 million), organic chemicals ($4 million), other commodity categories ($4 million). Kuwaiti investments in Egypt reached $547.7 million in the 2023/2024 fiscal year, down from $632.6 million the previous year. Egyptian investments in Kuwait also fell to $194.2 million, compared to $221.2 million in FY 2022/2023. Despite the decline in trade and investment flows, remittances from Egyptians working in Kuwait rose slightly to $2.1 billion in 2023/2024, up from $2 billion a year earlier.
