Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty on Wednesday met with Michael Kretschmer, the prime minister of Saxony, Germany, on the sidelines of the second ministerial meeting of the Khartoum Process hosted in Cairo. They discussed Egypt's efforts to prevent illegal migration through its shores to Germany and Europe, highlighting the potential for Saxony to benefit from skilled Egyptian labour to meet various sectoral needs. The conversation also touched on the latest developments in Gaza, where the Egyptian Minister outlined Egypt's efforts to enforce a ceasefire and stop the Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people, as well as the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza. Minister Abdel-Aty also highlighted the investment opportunities available in Egypt, particularly in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), which handles about 15 per cent of global trade and includes four industrial zones and six ports. He emphasised the potential for Saxony to take advantage of the incentives offered by the Egyptian government to foreign investors, as well as the extensive reforms undertaken by Egypt to modernise economic and financial policies and attract foreign investment.
