Egypt's c. bank hosts Tanzanian cybersecurity team
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 16 - 03 - 2025

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) hosted a cybersecurity team from the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) to enhance cooperation with African states, according to a Cabinet statement published on Sunday.
The visit aimed to provide insights into Egypt's leading cybersecurity experience in the financial and banking sectors, focusing on Egypt's Financial Computing Incident Response Team (EG-FinCIRT), a distinguished model in cybersecurity in Africa and the Middle East.
During their 3-day visit, the Tanzanian team responsible for the Financial Sector Computer Emergency Response Center (TZ-FinCERT) received a comprehensive overview of EG-FinCIRT's activities and services, along with the incident response mechanisms implemented for managing cyber threats.
The visit aimed to benefit from the Egyptian experience to build and enhance the technical capacities of the TZ-FinCERT, in addition to empowering collaboration between both parties in the field of cybersecurity.
CBE's Sub-Governor for Cybersecurity Sherif Hazem highlighted the visits of cybersecurity delegations from foreign central banks, especially from African countries, as a testament to CBE's leading position in the field.
This standing is manifested in the establishment and operation of the region's first sectorial CERT, in alignment with the evolving global threats facing digital infrastructure, the statement added.
Assistant Sub-Governor at CBE Ibrahim Mustafa stressed the importance of sharing expertise and enhancing collaboration among central bank response teams globally due to the rise in cyber-attacks.
The EG-FinCIRT Response Centre is dedicated to fostering enhanced coordination and strengthening collaboration with the technical teams of response centres worldwide, with a special focus on Africa, the Arab world, and the Islamic world.
Notably, the Tanzanian delegation's visit is part of an ongoing series of visits from African countries to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise with the CBE in the field of cybersecurity.
