Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday reviewed the organisational arrangements for the Grand Egyptian Museum's (GEM) inauguration, scheduled for July 2025. He was briefed on proposed plans to achieve the event's objectives. Sisi stressed the importance of ensuring a world-class event without burdening the state budget. He reaffirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the largest cultural landmarks globally and called for leveraging its inauguration to enhance Egypt's overall tourism appeal. During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy, and Managing Director of United Media Services company (UMS) Tarek Makhlouf, and UMS Board Member Mohamed El Saadi, Sisi discussed the planned activities during the celebration. He emphasised the need to maximise its impact in promoting Egypt's tourism sector, showcasing the nation's historical contributions to global civilisation, and increasing tourist inflows in line with the country's rich cultural and natural assets. The meeting also covered the museum's promotional campaign and private sector coordination for marketing efforts in hotels and resorts. The discussions highlighted the museum as a unique destination offering a blend of ancient Egyptian heritage and advanced exhibition technologies.
