Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Swailem met with Secretary-General of the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) Khaldon Khashman to discuss enhancing cooperation in water management, training, and transfer of expertise, as per a Cabinet statement. Swailem highlighted the Arab region's severe water scarcity, exacerbated by population growth, migration, shifting consumption patterns, and climate change, which has led to extreme weather events. He stressed the importance of strengthening regional collaboration, sharing best practices, and advancing water management through modern technology and scientific research. The minister reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to expanding cooperation with Arab nations in the water sector under existing agreements with several countries including Jordan, the UAE, Algeria, and Saudi Arabia.
