Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has signed on Wednesday an agreement for a $3.3 million poultry equipment assembly plant, in the Qantara West Industrial Zone, aiming to bolster local manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports. According to the official statement, the project, spanning an area of 9,800 square metres, is expected to create 100 direct jobs. Chairman of SCZone, Waleid Gamal Eldien highlighted the strategic location of the Qantara West Industrial Zone, which benefits from proximity to agricultural lands, transport networks, and ports, facilitating the movement of raw materials and products. He emphasised that the project aligns with SCZone's commitment to strengthening local production chains, supporting agro-industrial manufacturing, and enhancing food security. The initiative marks the 13th project in the Qantara West Industrial Zone and the second in the food industry sector after Turkey's Saray, bringing total investments in the zone to $514.3 million.
