Egypt exported approximately 240,000 tons of food products last week, with potatoes leading the list of vegetable exports, according to a report from the National Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) on Sunday. The report, which covered shipments from 1,845 exporting companies, stated that Egypt exported 5,600 consignments of 746 different products, including vegetables, fruits, flour, and other food items. Potatoes remained Egypt's top vegetable export, reaching 36,000 tons, followed by different types of beans at 10,000 tons and sweet potatoes at 9,000 tons. In total, 70 vegetable varieties were exported, amounting to 80,000 tons. Citrus fruits continued to dominate fruit exports, totalling 56,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 12,000 tons and a variety of other fruits at 4,000 tons. Overall, 33 types of fruits were exported, adding up to 72,000 tons. Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Sudan, and Morocco were among the largest importers of Egyptian food products last week, out of a total of 186 importing countries, as stated in the statement.
