Egypt's food exports reached approximately 160,000 tons during the week of November 30 to December 6, an 8 per cent decline from the previous week, according to the National Food Safety Authority's weekly report. The exports included 586 varieties of vegetables, fruits, flour, and other food items. Sweet potatoes topped the list of exported vegetables with 8,000 tons, followed by onions at 6,000 tons and beans of various types at 4,000 tons. A total of 68 vegetable types accounted for 36,000 tons of exports. Among fruits, citrus led with 16,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 5,000 tons and dates at 4,000 tons, with 35 fruit varieties totalling 35,000 tons exported. The largest importers of Egyptian food products were Saudi Arabia, the United States, Sudan, and Libya, among 170 countries. Meanwhile, food imports to Egypt reached 290,000 tons, consisting of 223 items such as wheat, soybeans, lentils, and various oils from 83 countries.
