Egypt's food exports hit 215,000 tons in 1 week – NFSA

Egypt's food exports amounted to approximately 215,000 tons in the week ending July 5, involving 1,500 exporting companies and covering 510 varieties of fresh vegetables, fruits, and various food products, according to the 24th weekly report for 2024 from the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA).
Fresh onions topped the list of exported vegetables with a total of 15,000 tons, followed by various types of kidney beans at 13,000 tons, and potatoes at 12,000 tons. The total number of exported vegetable varieties reached 63, with an overall volume of about 50,000 tons.
Citrus fruits continued to lead the list of exported fruits over the past week, with a total of 20,000 tons. Fresh grapes and strawberries followed, each amounting to 15,000 tons. The total number of exported fruit varieties was 60, with a combined volume of approximately 55,000 tons.
Major importers of Egyptian exports over the past week included Sudan, Spain, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, out of a total of 186 importing countries.
On the import side, Egypt received about 720,000 tons of food products from 860 importing companies. These imports included 180 varieties, such as wheat, raw sugar, soybeans, and various oils, from 84 countries. Russia was the largest exporter to Egypt, followed by Brazil, the United States, Ukraine, and Indonesia.
