Egypt's food exports reached 405,000 tons in the week ended on May 14, marking an increase of 125,000 tons compared to the previous period, National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) reported on Sunday. The exported products boasted a remarkable variety. Over 850 types of fresh fruits and vegetables were included, alongside various processed food items, as per the statement. Fresh onions reigned supreme among exported vegetables, with 32,000 tons shipped. Potatoes followed closely at 30,000 tons, and beans rounded out the top three with 5,000 tons. Citrus fruits remained the top fruit export, with 111,000 tons shipped. Strawberries followed with 16,000 tons, and grapes with 10,000 tons. In total, Egypt exported 60 fruit varieties, totaling around 142,500 tons. During the last period, Sudan, the Netherlands, Spain, and Saudi Arabia were the top receivers of Egyptian exports out of a total of 193 countries, according to the statement. Damietta Port emerged as the champion of food exports, handling a total of 1,130 consignments during the period. Cairo Airport port followed closely behind with 1,030 consignments. While, Alexandria Port contributed 1,000 consignments.
