Brotherhood Party Rejects ElBaradei as Egypt's New Premier
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 06 - 07 - 2013

A high-ranking official in the Freedom and Justice Party, the Muslim Brotherhood's political arm, said on Saturday he rejected the appointment of Mohamed ElBaradei as Egypt's interim prime minister.
"We reject this coup and all that results from it, including ElBaradei," he told Reuters at an Islamist gathering in northern Cairo.
ElBaradei, expected to be confirmed later in the day, is one of the liberal leading opposition figures belonging to the National Salvation Front that called for early presidential elections, and later the ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.
Meanwhile, Egypt's interim president on Saturday held talks with the army chief, interior minister and members of the ‘rebel' (Tamarod) campaign, which sparked last week's protests leading to the toppling of Morsi.
Adly Mansour met with army chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, who is also the defense minister, as well as Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim, who is in charge of the police, at the Ittihadiya presidential palace Saturday, The Associated Press reported.
Islamist coalition calls for protests
An Islamist coalition led by the Muslim Brotherhood called on people to protest across Egypt on Sunday against the military overthrow of Morsi, Reuters reported.
The National Coalition in Support of Legitimacy issued the statement on Saturday, a day after overnight clashes across the country that killed at least 36 people and wounded over 1000.
