Zohr gas field to resume full operation by late '24 – PM

Egypt's Zohr gas field is set to restore its production capacity following a resolution to financial issues that had stalled investments. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly revealed that delays in payments to the Italian company managing the field had caused operational slowdowns, but financial commitments and discussions led by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi have paved the way for recovery.
Madbouly announced that the primary drilling rig is expected to resume operations by the end of this year, with production projected to return to pre-crisis levels by mid-2025. This restoration is anticipated to significantly reduce Egypt's reliance on gas imports while boosting its export potential.
The Zohr gas field, a critical component of Egypt's energy strategy, plays a vital role in achieving energy self-sufficiency and strengthening the nation's economic position in the global energy market.
