Egypt-Malaysia trade reached $574 million in the first nine months of 2024, slightly down from $626 million in the same period of 2023, as per a statement published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS). Egypt's exports to Malaysia totalled $68 million in the first nine months of 2024, down from $76 million in the same period in 2023. The main exports were agricultural products and mineral resources like ground natural calcium phosphate. Egyptian imports from Malaysia totalled $506 million in the first nine months of 2024, from $550 million in the same period in 2023. Key exports to Egypt include vegetable and animal fats and oils, electrical machinery and equipment, and rubber. Malaysian investments in Egypt rose to $24 million in the fiscal year 2022/2023 from $5.1 million in 2021/2022. Egyptian investments in Malaysia also increased to $198.9 million in 2022/2023 from $180.6 million in 2021/2022, the report added. Remittances from Egyptians working in Malaysia rose to $6.6 million in fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $9.6 million in 2021/2022.
