Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Huawei signed an agreement aiming to accelerate local innovation and support startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony while taking part in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit in Beijing. Under the agreement, Huawei will establish a development centre focused on local industry solutions and products. The centre, which builds on Huawei's existing OpenLab in North Africa, will drive research and development (R&D) in software, cloud computing, and advanced technologies, offering support to the Egyptian tech ecosystem. In the anticipated development centre, Huawei will train 1,500 developers by 2025 in advanced technological tracks such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cloud computing, and big data analysis. In collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Huawei will certify 500 developers, as part of a broader effort to expand Egypt's software developer base. This initiative will also provide startups and SMEs access to Huawei's cloud services and resources, helping businesses develop innovative solutions. The expansion will enhance Egypt's position as a technological hub and create significant employment and training opportunities.
