Taha Naser Ali Bara, spokesman of the prosecutor general in Libya, arrived this morning in Cairo for a legal cooperation between Egypt and Libya. The Libyan spokesman is escorted by a high-ranking delegation. This visit comes after an Egyptian delegation from the public prosecution, led by Judge Hassen Yassin, traveled to Libya in order to discuss the cooperation in the legal issues that concern the citizens in both countries. It is worth mentioning that Egypt's prosecution on Tuesday ordered to detain a key figure of Libya's former regime for 30 days over corruption charges. On Tuesday, Gaddaf Al-Dam surrendered himself to Egyptian security forces at his residence in Zamalek district in the capital Cairo after hours of scrimmages. Kamel Samir, head of the International Cooperation Office of the General Prosecution, said the detention of al-Dam was based on the legal and judicial cooperation agreement between Egypt and Libya, which enables one country to detain suspects from the other for renewable 30 days until their extradition. Al-Dam, who had been a coordinator for Libyan-Egyptian relations under former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, is wanted by the Interpol for his alleged involvement in several cases concerning the former Libyan regime.
