Vodafone Egypt wins first cybersecurity award by GRC
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 09 - 11 - 2023

Vodafone Egypt announced on Tuesday its recognition as the leading company in the cybersecurity sector by the GRC forum.
GRC Forum Egypt honoured Vodafone Egypt for its successful management of risk and compliance using the Archer GRC platform, which included implementing automated solutions to support digital transformation and cybersecurity strategies.
The recognition also reflects Vodafone Egypt's commitment to cybersecurity and the quality of services it provides, ensuring the delivery of secure and reliable services to its customers. The company's strategy includes the implementation of intensive training programmes for its employees to enhance cybersecurity awareness and the capability to deal with potential cyber threats and attacks.
"Vodafone Egypt leverages its advanced technology and digital expertise to offer cutting-edge security solutions. Additionally, it continuously evaluates its business strategy, adheres to modern technologies, government policies, and regulations, and professionally handles cyber threats." the company said in a statement.
The GRC platform comprises three main components, namely governance, risk management, and compliance. For the governance, it refers to the policies, processes, and procedures established by the company to manage cybersecurity risks. Risk management entails identifying, assessing, and prioritising potential security risks to the company's assets, such as networks and systems, while also developing risk management plans and implementing controls and mitigation strategies. Compliance refers to Vodafone Egypt's commitment to adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in the field of cybersecurity, including data privacy laws, industry-specific regulations, and best practices.
"We are delighted that we have been recognised with an award from the GRC Egypt forum, acknowledging our commitment to cybersecurity and compliance standards in the region." said Catalin Buliga, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Vodafone Egypt.
"This recognition is a tribute to our efforts and success story in utilising the Archer GRC platform and it acknowledges our dedication to providing top-notch services, particularly in the realm of cybersecurity, as well as our accomplishment in implementing best compliance practices in accordance with local policies, regulations, and legislation,"
Meanwhile, Samah Khamis, Head of Technology Strategy, Cyber Security, and Business Planning at Vodafone Egypt, gave a keynote speech on Vodafone's strategy, governance, risk management, and compliance using Archer GRC Platform. Archer GRC Platform empowers technology and telecommunications companies to effectively manage multiple risks through a unified platform and eases the implementation of standard benchmarks and best practices in advanced risk management, enabling data-informed decision-making and swift enhancements in business performance. Such technology stands as a global frontrunner in information technology risk management and business continuity management tools.
Khamis further said:"We firmly believe that cybersecurity services are an investment, not an expense. Vodafone Egypt offers an information security management system within practices and guidelines aimed at assisting cloud service providers and customers in secure and efficient operations.
"This ensures the safety of their data and customer data against various forms of electronic threats. The security of the products and services we offer is deemed a critical priority for all clients, should they be consumers or corporations. The safety of our networks, systems, and clients is of utmost importance and a fundamental part of our mission. We invest in the latest technologies and systems to ensure the security and protection of our clients' information and employees."
Vodafone Egypt drives its dedication to cybersecurity through committing to avoiding substantial material and non-material losses resulting from cyber threats. Cybersecurity Ventures anticipates a 15 percent annual rise in global losses resulting from electronic crimes over the next five years, reaching $6 trillion this year and $10.5 trillion in 2025, compared to $3 trillion in 2015. These significant figures involve data damage and destruction, monetary theft, loss of productivity, intellectual property theft, personal and financial data theft, embezzlement, fraud, disruption of normal business operations following an attack, criminal investigation costs, data and system recovery costs, and damage to reputation.
Vodafone's efforts in this regard also comes in line with its support for Egypt's digital transformation plan and 2030 Vision. It adopts the latest global systems and solutions to secure information, follow trusted digital practices, and meets the requirements of ISO certifications in cybersecurity: ISO 27001:2013 and ISO/27017:2015 in Vodafone Business services for hosting and cloud computing.
This aligns with Vodafone Egypt's policy of placing user interests at the top of its priorities. Vodafone Business has an electronic framework based on global corporate best practices in addressing electronic attacks and emphasising the protection and security of customer information and internal systems.
