Under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Ministry of International Cooperation will launch the first edition of the Egypt-ICF International Cooperation Forum on September 8 and 9. The forum expects signing some sustainable development partnerships with high-level regional and international attendees, according to a statement by the ministry. It will take place both virtual and in-person. Confirmed guests are from some major economic and social development institutions, including the UN, the World Bank Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. A number of ministers and policy-makers from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as heads of international financial institutions, representatives of bilateral and multilateral development partners, members of the business community and the private sector, and international and regional research centres will be present. The forum's activities will include a rich programme of discussions and workshops. For the first time, an international agenda for cooperation and development financing will be launched from Egypt, reflecting the country's regional and global position as well as its leading role in international cooperation, said International Cooperation Minister Rania al-Mashat. The forum reflects Egypt's belief in the importance of employing international cooperation and development financing to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, especially in emerging and developing economies, focusing on Africa, added al-Mashat. It will enable participating countries to present on and discuss sustainable development.
