The Egyptian Islamic thinker Dr. Muhammad Emara, has died at the age of 89, after a short struggle with illness. Mohamed Emara was one of the most prominent thinkers and theorists of the Islamic movement. The late scholar was born on December 8, 1931, in the village of Qalin in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, he began memorizing the Qur'an at the age of six, and he obtained a BA in Arabic Language and Islamic Sciences at the Faculty of Dar Al Uloom at Cairo University in 1965, and received a doctorate in Islamic sciences with a general Islamic philosophy in 1975. Emara has held various positions including a member of the Islamic Research Academy in Al-Azhar, an editor-in-chief of Al-Azhar magazine, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in Al-Azhar. He has who has authored over 70 books. Dr Emara is outspoken in his views against Western intervention and influence over the Muslim world, calling upon all Muslims to unite and form an Islamic State under moderate Islamic rule
