Former PM Nazif''s corruption trial adjourned to 12 April

The Cairo Criminal adjourned the trial of former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to 12 April to hear more witness testimonies, after Nazif pled not guilty to all charges against him in court on Thursday.
Nazif has been accused of illegally amassing LE64 million during his term as prime minister. The Illicit Gains Authority has ordered Nazif to return another LE128 million in allegedly stolen funds to the state.
The authority investigation revealed that Nazif accumulated a fortune that would have been impossible to do through legitimate means, given his government salary.
Nazif is charged with using the Child and Society Development Establishment, a charity he formed to provide funds to private educational institutions, to route LE59 million to his personal fortune. According to Illicit Gains Authority, Nazif failed to prove the source of the remaining LE5 million.
He is also accused of forcing government bodies to donate funds to the establishment, appointing his wife and sons to prestigious positions, and giving bonuses to himself with no legal justification.
