Salafi Nour Party Chairman Emad Abdel Ghafour has called on all political parties and movements to help end clashes between protesters and the armed forces in and around Tahrir Square that have been ongoing since Friday. He called for dialogue between the two parties. “I went to Tahrir Square on Sunday with a number of members of the Nour Party's Supreme Committee to check on the situation, in an attempt to stop the violence between the two parties and engage in rational dialogue to end the crisis,” Abdel Ghafour told Al-Masry Al-Youm. “However, we found [this] difficult because of the violence between the two parties.” He went on to say that a “third party” was working to escalate the crisis, a fact which could be linked to Islamist victories during parliamentary elections. On Sunday, clashes broke out between Central Security Forces and thousands of protesters on Sheikh Rihan Street. Attempts by public figures to stop the clashes failed. “All [Nour] Party members who won during the first round, and they include more than 30 members, will go to Qasr al-Aini Street on Sunday to help find a solution to this crisis,” said Abdel Ghafour. “All members of parliament who won so far must show a strong presence in order to resolve the crisis.” “The advisory council's activities are currently frozen until it receives a response to the demands it presented to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces,” he said.
