The Muslim Brotherhood group is holding its first public elections to replace three Guidance Bureau members who had resigned in order to join the group's Freedom and Justice Party. The Guidance Bureau comprises the group's leadership. A source speaking on condition of anonymity said the group invited the members of the military council, the prime minister, his deputies, the interior minister, Pope Shenouda and the leaders of all political parties and movements to an iftar on Saturday. The group has been banned from holding its annual iftar since 2006, when General Guide Mahdi Akef criticized Mubarak and denounced attempts to bequeath power to his son Gamal.
