Kefaya demands Netanyahu and Barak be tried for war crimes

The Kefaya movement, along with a number of activists, political organizations and members of the People's Assembly presented a complaint to Egypt's Prosecutor General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud demanding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak be tried for war crimes following the death of 9 activists onboard the Gaza aid flotilla, Hurriyya. The group also called on Egypt to take decisive measures against the Israelis, rather than “greeting them with open arms.”
Meanwhile, the Coalition of Egyptian Organizations in the United States, protesting Israel's assault on the Gaza-bound flotilla, organized a demonstration outside the White House on Friday. The coalition also held a press conference the previous day at the International Center for Journalists in Washington, in cooperation with various other civil groups, including the Muslim American Society, in an attempt to pressure the US government to cease its complacency in the face of Israeli piracy.
Doctor Mokhtar Kamel, vice-chairman of the coalition, called for an end to the siege on Gaza and for action to be taken against Israel in response to its reprehensible actions with regard to the Gaza aid flotilla. He also called on the Obama administration to apply pressure on Israel.
The continued American disregard for Israeli actions will lead to accusations that the US is acting hypocritically and applying double standards to Israel, said Kamel. This is leading to discontent within the Arab and Muslim world towards the Obama administration, he said, calling on American Jews to oppose Israeli policies that harm the Jews themselves.
