The Technical Committee that was formed by the Ministry of Health to investigate into the mass deaths of Fayoum General Hospital in January and February yesterday recommended investigation with the management and the intensive care unit staff, after neglect and wrong diagnoses was proven to have led to serious complications for the patients. Al-Masry Al-Youm had exclusively reported the mass deaths in the intensive care unit of Fayoum General Hospital. For their part, the doctors submitted a note to Dr. Hussein Sophie Abu Taleb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health, demanding the cancellation of their assignment because they are not trained to work in the intensive care unit and to operate its equipment. They asked to go back to their original work at the Fever Hospital. They were assigned to the unit after four doctors there went on sick leave due to differences with the hospital administration, which caused a shortage in the unit and deterioration in the patients' conditions. The families of the victims who died said that had it not been to Al-Masry Al-Youm, no committee would have been formed.
