The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development Ahmed El-Maghraby gave his green light to taking away some 60 acres of land given to companies which are taking part in the National Housing Project. Speaking to the press yesterday, the minister said 20, 16 and 13.5 acres respectively have been taken away from three companies in 6th of October City. He affirmed these companies had not complied with the clauses of their contracts with the ministry. One of them had not started implementing the project on time, the second lacked of seriousness, and the third did not submit the necessary documents for the license on time, he explained. Meanwhile, 10 acres have been taken away from a syndicate to which a plot of land had already been allocated in Sadat City. According to the minister, this syndicate did not submit the checks. "We won't hesitate to take away any plot of land from any company that violates the clauses" the minister said. In the meantime, the board of directors of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) held a meeting chaired by the housing minister himself in which it agreed to allocate a 5-acre plot of land in Assiut to the Assiut Bar Association there for 25 years. A social, cultural and sporting club will be set up there for the lawyers and their families. NUCA board of directors also approved to allocate a 10,000-m2 plot of land in 6th of October City to a charity association to carry out a clinic and a project for the elderly and the invalids. The plot has been allocated for 25 years, too.
