Minister of Housing Ahmed el-Maghrabi refused to disclose the details of the project on developing the Imbaba Airport land to be implemented early next year, adding that revealing details would lead to speculations. In response to a question by Al-Masry Al-Youm, the minister said: "There are decisions to expropriate some real estates in Imbaba district. Some people try to get the accurate information to achieve personal goals, but the ministry has the right to retain details." "We do not want to sell the land to investors, but we do not want to implement the development project in 20 years either. Will people wait? They should know that no real estate would be expropriated." What would be sold is a part of the airport's land, which is owned by the state, he added. The Ministry of Housing said that the housing units that would be built to accommodate the people would be called New Imbaba. On the other hand, well-informed sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Maghrabi decided to allocate about 200 acres in Six of October City to the people whose houses would be demolished. The minister referred the allocation decree to the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to take the final decision during the next few weeks. Asked about the ministry cooperating with the beneficiaries of "Build Your House" project, el-Maghrabi said: "Since the very beginning, we said the project is called "Build Your House" and not "Come Take a Ready House". However, the ministry can cooperate with them to put into action the idea of mass building." He called on the beneficiaries to contract with a construction company to implement the project, showing his readiness to facilitate procedures.
