The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) said it sent a delegation to the Syrian capital of Damascus to meet with Khaled Meshaal, the head of Hamas Political Bureau, to congratulate him on the victory over Israel in the Gaza Strip. The delegation would also relay the same message from MB Guide Mahdi Akef to Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the deposed Palestinian government in Gaza. The MB website reported that Akef said in his letter to Haniyeh: “You have made us proud by defeating the most powerful army in the region.” He warned him of losing that victory in negotiations over some initiative or convention. “This is what we have lost in the October War of 1973,” he wrote.
