The Israeli tanks stationed on the borders of the Gaza Strip broke the ceasefire yesterday, as they fired grenades at some houses in Khan Yunis in the southern Strip. No injured or losses were reported. Meanwhile, Egypt is due to take part today in an extraordinary meeting in Brussels between EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from Egypt, Turkey, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority, as the EU is resuming talks with Middle East parties. According to a statement of the EU Presidency yesterday, the meeting aims to define a European role or strategy in order to look for ways to achieve more security and stability in the region and to give new momentum to peace. On the ground, Palestinian activists fired a rocket which did not reach Israel and fell into the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the French presidency announced it would send a frigate carrying helicopters to patrol the international waters off the coasts of Gaza. In the meantime, a delegation from the Hamas movement arrived in Cairo on Friday to complete the talks with the Egyptians over how to consolidate the ceasefire with Israel. A Hamas delegation from abroad is expected to join today's talks in order to pave the way for the dialogue that Cairo has called for to discuss the ceasefire conditions between Israel and Hamas. Meanwhile, new quantities of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip arrived yesterday at the Rafah border crossing.
