The Misdemeanor Court yesterday rejected the defense requests in the gag order case of the murder of Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim, in which Businessman Hisham Talaat Mustafa and former State Security Officer Mohsen el-Sokkary are accused. The court decided to adjourn till January 22 for the defense to prepare its case. The defense had requested copies of what was printed in Al-Akhbar, Al-Ahram, Al-Gomhouria and other partisan newspapers about the case on the same day Al-Masry Al-Youm and Al-Wafd printed their coverage. As the chief editors and three journalists of Al-Masry Al-Youm and Al-Wafd only were brought to trial for breaching the gag order, the defense had also requested a copy of the prosecutor's memo against the other newspapers to the same effect, and compare between what all papers wrote.
