Significance Of The Decision Of The 109th Day
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 12 - 05 - 2009

Those who hailed the coming of Obama to Cairo next June 4, I hope they did not miss the most important indications of the subject. The whole discourse was, and remains, in the direction of recognition of the position of Egypt, as pivotal, and its role in the Muslim world, that we have political weight, and that we belong to the "Mother of Civilizations" and so on and so on. What was the last talk about the visit apparently revolves around its appearance and not about its implicit meaning!
And we assume that we are a big country, whether Obama comes or not, and that the role of the country, any country, is determined by its potential, and will, and his ability to see its real size, and then act on that basis, and never overstep the role and status, or weight, through a certificate from an outsider, regardless of this authority!
What we do know that President Bush has been in the White House for almost three thousand days, where he did not provide anything for the region, except for talk about what he will be doing, which was reassuring words for the people here, until they discovered that the man had left, and taken his words with him!

With Obama's coming on January 20, it was clear that there is a different approach in dealing with the issues that concern us, and we have to give the new president, as was the custom, a hundred days so he could put his first steps on the road, and then see what he will do.
In May, the first hundred days were over, and the world, and us with him, are looking forward to the way in which Obama will act after the deadline passed, which many had kept track of, day by day, the ninth day after that the news was announced that he was coming to us and that he will announce from here his letter to the Islamic world!

The declaration said referring to the way the U.S. President interacts with the problems facing him, rather than as evidence of anything else, he knows that there is a problem between Muslims and his country, since Bush came and left, and also knows that there is a bigger problem between Israel and the Arabs that is 61 years old, and knows that talk only about these two problems will not solve them, even if he speaks for a hundred years, and speech must be coupled with getting closer to the place to see it better and maybe the solution would become easier.
Here's exactly the philosophy of the visit, and here were the causes of the problem invading the problem is almost half way to resolve it, and the right timing of the decision is a completion of the contribution of another solution. When will we learn when taking into account time differences in the decisions to solve our problems, which are overwhelmed by the issuance of the people?
There are many decisions in our lives, but they are always late in schedule. The man decided to enter into the problems after 109 days, and we still revolve around our problems for 109 days, months, and perhaps years!
