An official source revealed that the Egyptian Traders Company returned the value of the Russian wheat shipment of $9.6 million to the Supply of Goods Authority, through the banks that deal with the Authority. This is the shipment that has been rejected, whereby the Attorney General ordered its re-export. The source pointed out that the company did not recover the value of the letters of guarantee, which are LE 60 million. This will be the case until the end of the investigations, carried out by the Attorney General, into the shipment documents. He added that the company is currently cooperating with the Supply of Goods Authority in the compilation of silos for its re-exportation, pointing out that the full amount of the shipment, 52.5 tons, had been released from custody and placed in silos for vaporization and sifting and its is being assembled from silos from provinces to return it to port. He added that the second consignment imported by the Egyptian Traders Company is still being examined by regulatory agencies and the committee set up by the Attorney General. The Egyptian Traders Company has contracted with the Supply of Goods Authority, an explicit provision of the right to refuse the shipment if the examinations conducted at the port of arrival in Safaga, reveal that the shipment is non-compliant with specifications. He indicated that the Supply of Goods Authority would discontinue dealing with the company in all tenders of the Authority, either of wheat or rice. For his part, Abdalfadil Mohammed, a member of the Governing Council of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, ruled out the possibility of dispensing with the private sector in tenders for the supply of wheat by the Supply of Goods Authority.
