1967 Defeat is Just a Simple One.
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 15 - 06 - 2009

The Egyptian air raids, in the 1967 war, haven't got fair analysis or honor…the whole scene depicted Israel as being a mighty empire who swept the whole Egyptian army within a few hours.
However, the accurate military writings refer to many wonderful Egyptian pilots, who conceived the tragedy and witnessed the destruction that the Israeli air force caused to the Egyptian aircrafts and passages. But despite of that, they launched their aircrafts in an unprecedented heroic operation, namely the many air raids they carried out on June 5th 1976 and in the following days.
Those Egyptian air raids were legendary, as the Egyptian fighters who carried out them, were aware of the fact that the Israelis had defeated their army, occupied their lands and terrified their leaders. Consequently, the Egyptian heroes in 1967 were proved to be more courageous than British and German military figures in WWII.
During the set-back week in 1967, twenty Egyptian pilots launched their aircrafts, fully aware that they were executing martyrdom operations; they realized that they were fighting in the middle of defeat, with neither airports nor passages nor protection coverage… yet, the twenty pilots launched their twenty aircrafts in an operation similar to " Peril Harbor", which was carried out by the Japanese army in WWII.
They are similar in the sense that, the fighters in both operations were fully aware that they were facing death.  Nineteen, out of the twenty Egyptian fighters, received martyrdom in action and only one of these heroic elite could make it back home.
Lieutenant general Sa'd Al-Shazili, chief of staff in the October 6th war, told me about what he and his platoon witnessed in 1967 war when he proceeded, with more than a thousand fighters, five kilometers ahead in the Israeli lands… which means that the Shazili platoon proceeded to occupy Israeli sites in 1967 before they had to withdraw with the least possible losses afterwards.
In parallel with this series, I have been honored to launch an initiation, through Al-Tab'a Al-Ula (the first edition) program, broadcasted on Dream satellite channel, aiming at unveiling and documenting the Egyptian heroism in the 1967 war.
In this respect, here I'm repeating the same initiation through Al-Masri Al-Yaum newspaper hoping that the veterans who participated in this heroism, their families, the witnesses and the readers who have come across no longer- available sources, to be generous enough and send their comments to us, and I promise them all that I will give them the highest possible appreciation and entertainment.
The aim of commemorating the heroism of 1967 war is, of course, a national claim, as it brings confidence back home to our people and to the brain-washed generations.
The ignorant mercenary writers who have depicted Israel as a victorious nation and the Israeli leaders as mighty fighters just because they could make the "Defrswar" breach into the Egyptian land, which is so- called the Egyptian set back, also depicted Egypt as a defeated country in the October 1973 war.
Nevertheless, the aim of this initiation is also to resurrect the truth and shed light on the people who have tried to present a gleam of hope to the June 1967 tragedy when they offered their bodies and souls for the sake of their country.
Eventually we are honored at any rate, but what we should do, is to give them the appropriate consideration and to bring respect back to our nation.
Until Monday, so long
