Sinai [Egypt] - Egypt's army killed seven terrorists in North Sinai, including two who were highly dangerous, an army spokesperson said on Monday. The army also destroyed 14 terrorist hideouts, where they found military uniforms, communication devices, computers, weapons and improvised explosive devices, and materials to manufacture bombs. Eight vehicles and four motorcycles were also destroyed in the raid, according to the spokesman's statement. Security forces have been battling an Islamist insurgency for several years in North Sinai, with hundreds killed on both sides. In a related context, a tribal source from North Sinai told Ahram Online that Ouda El-Hamadeen, one of the leaders of Islamist militant group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, which has claimed the majority of deadly attacks on security forces in North Sinai, has been killed in an army air raid. El-Hamadeen was conducting a meeting with a number of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis members when he was killed in the raid, the source added. El-Hamadeen has been known as a leading figure in Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis and has been conducting attacks, along with his brother Selim El-Hamadeen, against security sources since 2013.
