State must ensure maximum protection and security for Abdel Rehim Ali and Al-Bawaba News staff: Rights lawyer
Published in Albawaba on 22 - 08 - 2017

Cairo – Commenting on the threats made by IS against Abdel Rehim Ali and Al-Bawaba News staff, Mohamed Abdel-Naim, president of the United Arab Human Rights Organization, said that these threats are there because the newspaper has been exposing the conspiracies of IS terrorist groups and spreading the voice of truth.
"The cogent rebuttals and refutations of IS ideas and plots, which all contribute to exposing the truth about the organization to the public opinion, have proplled them to try to stifle it," he added.
He pointed out that the newspaper sheds light on the heinous atrocities and inhumanity of this terrorist organization, and wades into thorny issues such as its funding, its training camps and offshoots. The Newspaper, under the auspices of its Editor-in-Chief Abdel-Rehim Ali, has been bearing the responsibility for identifying IS safe havens and financers, arguing that the threats against Ali came mainly in his capacity as Chairperson of Al-Bawaba Institution, nothing else.
Abdel-Naim stressed the need to ensure strict surveillance and security measures for both Ali and the headquarters of the newspaper as the man is fighting on behalf of the state, making him and his institution no less than those who take up arms to protect the homeland. Dr. Ali vehemently believes in the mighty power of the pen via his institution, stressing that they are, as a human rights organization, express their solidarity with Dr. Ali and Al-Bawaba Institution.
Addressing the state to protect this icon, Abdel-Naim called upon all political forces to stand up to those threatening and intimidating free and vocal voices in the society, that are fighting in the best interest of the homeland, noting that the parliament must take concrete moves to stand by the side of one of its members being threatened and intimidated.
