El-Sisi, Macron discuss bilateral ties over phone

Cairo – President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call, discussed the Egyptian-French relations, regional and international issues of mutual concerns, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef in a statement.
President El-Sisi asserted that the ongoing crises in the Middle East require enhancing international efforts in order to reach political solutions that shall end the humanitarian suffering, restore stability in the region, and open up prospects for reconstruction and for realizing development, in a phone call between the two leaders, according to official statement released on Sunday.
El-Sisi hailed the robust and outstanding Egyptian-French relations. He also underscored the importance of continuing to further advance the existing cooperation between the two countries at various levels.
President Macron expressed his commitment to continue promoting the distinct Egyptian-French relations across various levels. The French President emphasized his keenness on endorsing the partnership and ongoing close cooperation between Egypt and France in all areas so as to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
"President Macron stressed the need to continue intensive coordination and consultations between Egypt and France on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest," the statement added.
The phone call also tackled regional developments, primarily the situation in Libya, where the two Presidents agreed on the need to push forward efforts underway to reach a political settlement in Libya that shall restore stability in the country, preserve its territorial integrity and national institutions, and contribute to enhancing counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
Emmanuel Macros is expected to visit Egypt within the upcoming months, according to statements of French Ambassador in Cairo, Stephane Roumtier on Friday.
