Cairo - Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb has decided to form a committee to draft a bill to fight hatred and violence under the cloak of religion, state-run MENA reported In a statement on Saturday, Mohamed Abdel Salam, the committee Chairman, said several meetings will be held with experts and specialists to draft the bill, adding that the outcome of the meetings will be referred to the Al-Azhar's Grand Imam. The proposed bill aims at criminalizing incitement to hatred and violence under the cloak of religion, Abdel Salam added. The draft law falls within the framework of Al-Azhar's efforts to fight violence and extremism and disseminate the culture of tolerance and fraternity among people of the same country.
